MIRRORLESS MISSION
"Mirror Mirror on the wa- who needs a mirror to be the fairest?"
Overall Evaluation
This page is here to let you know my final conclusion and thoughts and if I'd recommend this to others, and why or why not.
The term "Mirrorless Mission" really lives up to its name. I was challenged in many ways to complete this project which really tested my strength and improved my character. It truly was a mission in the sense that I feel like I had a problem to begin with, battled the dragon, and became my own superhero. Although the challenges are nothing like fighting a mythical fire breathing lizard like beast, I did have to fight my own beasts; The beasts in my head that would whisper things that would degrade my self-esteem. Funnily enough, they appeared every time I was in the mirror looking for flaws to fix, when there wasn't anything to fix to begin with.

Over time, focusing less on my physical self allowed me to be more self-aware of my own thoughts and my own character. I wanted to present myself appropriately and I found myself relying on my style to do that when in reality my character is defined on the inside. I wouldn't say that the only thing that happened was that I became more confident, but it was a mix of that and letting go of my worries of others opinions.

During this time, not only did I become more confident and boost my self-esteem, but I opened myself up to new understandings of our society and opened my perspective to look at life with a different pair of lens. I came to the conclusion that it's okay to not be perfect, and although that's been said many times, I finally came to accept it and move on. The best part is, is that not only did I become more accepting of the outside of me, but internally I don't judge myself so harshly and allow myself to be who I am on the inside as well.

It was an over all freeing experience that I truly do recommend to others, even if its just for a week. To let go and motivate yourself to fight the chains of society and be more accepting of yourself without wanting to change for others is such an eye-opening experience that it leaves you as a better version of yourself. While this project was initially aimed towards teens facing lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, it's important to understand that that can be present in anyone, so this project is opened to inspiring and motivating anyone.
