MIRRORLESS MISSION
"Mirror Mirror on the wa- who needs a mirror to be the fairest?"

What started as an idea that gave me hope and excitement turned into a project that was filled with passion and lessons.
The Full Story

This project was inspired by the society around me and the circumstances we've been left to deal with and manage. With everything going on, our lives have been forced more than ever to social medias and communicating over phones. The media has gotten worse in some aspects, and those aspects just happen to be affecting teenagers especially. Self-Confidence and self-esteem is something hard to bring up and manage properly in the wrong environment. Personally, I feel like a lot of teens, including myself, have been feeling more pressured by society to fit a certain standard of beauty or style, or stay on top of trends. It's ironic how a generation so progressive and open-minded is still struggling to love themselves but won't hesitate to empower others. Self love is just as important to take care of as caring for friends and others, yet it doesn't seem like there are many available options for teens and others struggling with self-confidence and self-esteem to figure out how to accept and love themselves properly, which is what led me to here.

Hello, to summarize this website up, it's a platform that also holds my podcasts through my mirrorless mission journey of 6 weeks. Yes, that's right, I went 6 weeks - or tried to - without looking in the mirror or any other reflective surface for that matter. I wanted to show others that they're not the problem, and that they shouldn't judge their looks just because they don't look like someone else; I wanted to show people that the problem is more unexpected than we think. I took it upon myself to cover every mirror in my house for six weeks, figure out how to turn off self-view on zoom, and ignore every reflection of myself to see if that would change how I think about myself. I recorded my notes every week in a podcast series to track how I'm feeling, thinking, and any upcoming challenges. I trained myself and made it a habit to not look at myself and rely on my comfort, and that came with many advantages and self-improvement.

As well as teaching others to love and accept themselves fully, I want to inspire others to realize that they can make big changes within themselves through determination and perseverance - which does sound a bit cliche - and how hard work, or at least work with effort put in, is worth it in the end.

To simply put it, self-esteem and self-confidence can waiver at times, and those things shouldn't be because of how we look. We, as an open-minded generation, should work together in finding ways to spread love, but know how to keep and utilize that love for ourselves.
